With the 8th pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, the Minnesota Lynx select Alissa Pili.

Drafted in the first round, Alissa, who is of Samoan and Inupiaq heritage, was the only Pasifika player invited to the WNBA draft ceremony this year.

She is the first Inupiaq woman to be drafted into the WNBA and has amassed a huge Pasifika and native American following throughout her college career.

"I'm just representing them with pride, you know I had to include the tribal in my dress, and you know everything it took to get here, their (Pasifika and Indigenous communities) support just pushed me through and really excelled me to get to this stage".
