Beyond Numbers

Today is National Say Something Nice Day, and honestly, it's a good reminder in business and in life.

Success isn't built on transactions alone. It's built on relationships, trust, encouragement, and the people who choose to support, refer, and believe in what we do.

So today, I'm taking a moment to say thank you.

Thank you to our clients who trust us with their businesses. Thank you to our partners who collaborate with us. Thank you to the friends, family, and fellow entrepreneurs who continue to show up, offer support, and cheer each other on.

A few kind words can change someone's entire day. A little appreciation can strengthen a relationship. And sometimes, the simplest gestures have the biggest impact.

Here's your reminder to send that text, make that call, leave that review, or simply tell someone they're doing a great job.

Kindness costs nothing, but it creates tremendous value.

Last Friday, I had the privilege of attending the WAVE - Women in Accounting, Visionaries, and Entrepreneurship in Seattle.

Here's what I'm took with me:

What I Was Reminded Of:
Success doesn't look the same for everyone, and that's not a flaw, it's a feature. This year's theme, *2SUCCESS*, was a powerful reminder that our paths are our own. Comparing your chapter 1 to someone else's chapter 10 helps no one. Define what success means to "you", and pursue that unapologetically.

What I Learned:
What's best for the client isn't always what's best for you and I learned I'm not alone in that. As someone in this industry, it's easy to pour everything into serving others. Knowing where your business ends and your boundaries begin is something so many of us are navigating together.

The People:
The women in that room reminded me why community matters. We are not on this journey alone. Surrounding yourself with people who understand the grind, celebrate your wins, and show up authentically — that's priceless. I left feeling grateful for every connection made and renewed.

The Journey:
This industry is not easy. There are hard days, uncertain days, and days that test everything you have. But here's what I keep coming back to: if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. The difficulty is part of what makes it meaningful. Keep going.

Today feels a little full circle.

This community for me actually started from a webinar on 1099s called Ask A CPA, where I met Nancy, still my absolute favorite dancing accountant. 💃

Nancy built Ask A CPA to help bookkeepers and accountants to better support their clients, but what she really built was community. A space where people could ask questions, learn from each other, and realize they didn’t have to figure everything out alone.

Then at Intuit, a group of us met for lunch, and that’s where I met Erin. We ended up becoming conference buddies, and over the years it’s been amazing watching both friendship and business grow through this industry.

Fast forward to today, and now Erin has created a similar space alongside the industry for women in accounting and entrepreneurship through Wave with this years focus on 2Success.

From Alaska, where our business community can feel small and far away from conferences and events like this, relationships like these are truly valuable. It’s a reminder that one conversation, one lunch, or one webinar can completely change your network, perspective, and opportunities.

Now we’re all here in Seattle together continuing to build, grow, and remind each other that none of us have to do this alone. 🌊✨
