U.S. Army Sgt. Kiara Perez, U.S. Army Africa training room NCO, operates the SKYWALL Patrol, an anti-drone defense net capturing system during a recent demonstration in Italy. She is the first female U.S. service member to do so.

The demonstration for 55 multinational observers covered an overview of the system, two engagements against a drone, and discussion on recovery and exploitation of an unmanned aircraft system, once captured.

The SKYWALL Patrol system aligns with the U.S. Army’s modernization strategy, which focuses on making and units more lethal. Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center, while not in attendance, was vital to the success of the demonstration for introducing the system to the USARAF FAST Team.
