Today we honor Rosa Parks. She is historically known for her passive action that set forth the motion of the civil rights movement.
Parks married at age 19, and she and her husband, Raymond, fought to end racial injustice. By 1955, Rosa Parks helped organize and plan the Montgomery Bus Boycott. She refused to give up her seat at the front of the bus, and unfortunately, she was jailed and fired from her job. However, that didn’t stop her from continuing her fight for equal rights. Her actions still empower and inspire activists to continue fighting against injustice.
