Therapy doesn’t feel safe for everyone, and that matters.

For many in BIPOC communities, mental health isn’t just personal. It’s shaped by culture, family, and experiences that aren’t always understood in traditional spaces.

As therapists, we’re learning to slow down, listen better, and create care that actually feels human…..where you don’t have to explain your whole identity just to be supported.

You deserve to feel seen, heard, and safe in your healing.

If this resonates, take a moment to read, reflect, and share with someone who deserves to feel seen in their healing. Your story, and your care…matter here.

If you’ve experienced s*xual assault, the impact can show up in ways that feel confusing or overwhelming. There’s no “right” way to cope but there are small things that can help you feel a little more steady.

Start where you are:

Come back to the present:
When your mind drifts to the past, gently anchor yourself. Notice your breath, your surroundings, or something you can physically touch.

Name what’s happening:
Saying to yourself “this is a memory” or “this is anxiety” can help create a bit of space from the intensity.

Move your body in a safe way:
Even slow stretching or a short walk can help release some of what your body is holding.

Choose safe connection:
You don’t have to share everything, but being around someone you trust can ease the feeling of being alone.

Be patient with yourself:
Some days will feel heavier than others. That doesn’t mean you’re going backwards.

You’re allowed to take this one step at a time.

If you’re ready for support, our therapy team is here to walk with you through it.

Sexual assault can affect how someone thinks, feels, and moves through the world.

Some people experience flashbacks.
Some carry guilt that was never theirs.
Some feel disconnected from themselves or others.

And many struggle with anxiety, depression, PTSD, or other challenges that follow.

You’re not imagining it. And you’re not alone in it.

If you’ve been holding this in, you can talk to us. Our therapists are here when you’re ready.

Today, we did puppy yoga.

Because here , we believe that the same care and intention we bring to our clients, we have to bring to each other.

Our clinicians show up every single day holding space for some of the heaviest human experiences. That takes something out of you. And if we’re not intentional about filling that cup back up, burnout doesn’t just affect our team, it affects the people we’re here to serve.

So yes…puppies. Because science actually backs this up. Interacting with dogs raises serotonin and dopamine levels, lowers cortisol, and activates the same calming response we work so hard to help our clients find.

Taking care of your people isn’t a luxury. It’s a leadership responsibility.

When your team feels seen, valued, and genuinely supported, they show up differently. They connect more deeply. They give more sustainably.

At The Connection Corp, we honor the mind-body connection, not just in our clinical work, but in how we take care of the humans doing that work.

Fill your cup.

Hug a puppy.

Invest in your people.

Mental health is not the same for everyone and neither is healing.

For many in BIPOC communities it can feel heavy in ways that are hard to explain:

carrying family history

navigating spaces where you do not always feel seen

feeling like you have to stay strong even when you are struggling.

If that is you please hear this:

You are allowed to feel.
You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to ask for help.

You deserve support that understands your story without you having to translate your identity just to be heard.

We see you.
We hear you.
We are here with you.

Let’s open the conversation.
Let’s make space for real healing.
Let’s remind each other that you do not have to do this alone.
