Oh, how I loved this sensitive and thoughtful conversation with my friend Tim Dillinger of God's Music Is My Life about Rich Mullins’ philosophy of living as expressed through his music and writings. As well as some thoughts on the history of the artistry of Gospel music, and why it’s changed.

The Rich Mullins Philosophy A recording from Andrew Greer's live video
A conversation with Andrew Osenga asking the question, “Why do we sing the songs we sing?” This is us simply thinking through singing patriotic songs within the context of a church service. What do you think?
A world with space for Rich Mullins songs is a world with space for all the seekers, all the doubters, all the wanderers, all the, yes, ragamuffins. And so Brandon Heath, Bonnie Keen and I were honored to find some hallowed space within the halls of Rich’s old homestead in Tennessee to explore one of his songs in the vulnerable lay-it-all-on-the-floor, straight-to-tape fashion that has become these Bellsburg records tributing Rich. How I got all mixed up in helping to produce and record these gems, that’s its own story in space and time.
For today, you can listen to “Hope to Carry On”—the next single from “Back to Bellsburg: The Songs of Rich Mullins,” out this fall on Old Bear Records. Listen here: https://found.ee/HopeToCarryOn

This is the sunset over Oklahoma City tonight. I’m filming more of the next documentary, at this high school, with a family who lost their son unexpectedly almost six years ago. He was the quarterback on the football team here. That’s a big deal at a big school (6A) in these parts. But his character ran deep. With humility. With service. And there’s a lot of wondering why. I’m here just to hear them work it out. With trembling and fear. To question when it’s so far above our paygrade. The answers to the doubts that foundation our lives are so few. These sunsets, these created orders, help me trust that somewhere down the road we’ll find some answers.
