Our kids learned on Sunday that God wants to mend our broken hearts.
They did a craft in the vain of the Japanese art of Kintsugi, where a broken vessel is repaired with gold. It becomes stronger and more beautiful, much how our broken hearts are repaired after God mends them!
We took turns reading through all of Psalm 34, paying special attention to verse 18:
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
