"April 6th
Garth Erin Feeney, 28 years old, North Tower 106th/107th floor

Garth Erin Feeney was born on April 6, 1973 in California. He had two brothers, Michael and Matthew. He lived in New York City, NY. Garth attended and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Business. Garth was someone who fit a lot of jobs and activities into his life. In addition to his work with Data Synapse, he had established a program for poor children, tutored an illiterate adult, worked for campus security, was a dorm counselor and a representative on the university’s Board of Trustees, and worked for Habitat and Humanity. He was also a rock climber, scuba diver, kayaker, and in-line skater. He would skate through Central Park whenever he had the chance. Garth’s mother, Judy, said, “He was one of those people who did everything and anything.” Garth was also described by his friends and family as friendly, passionate, gentle, and special.

Garth worked as director of corporate development for Data Synapse in Manhattan. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Garth attended the Risk Waters conference at Windows on the World, the restaurant located on the 106th and 107th floors of the World Trade Center’s North Tower. At 8:46 a.m., Garth was at Windows on the World when Flight 11 struck the North Tower, leaving both the restaurant’s floors above the impassable impact zone. Sadly, no one working at or attending Windows on the World survived the attack, including Garth. Though his life was unfairly taken on September 11th, Garth’s love, accomplishments, and memories are forever cherished and remembered. His life and legacy are never forgotten.

"February 19th
Mark Lawrence Charette, 38 years old, North Tower 100th floor

Mark Lawrence Charette was born on February 19, 1963 to Donnalee and Lawrence Charette in Warwick, RI. He had a brother, Gregory. He lived in Millburn, NJ. Mark attended and graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. He attended college on a Navy ROTC scholarship and served in the U.S. Navy for five years on a nuclear submarine after graduating. Mark met his sweetheart, Cheryl Desmaris, at the University of Pennsylvania in an engineering class, which had been their original majors before they both switched to business degrees. Mark and Cheryl fell in love, got married, and had three children together, Lauren, age 8, Andrew, age 6, and Jonathan, age 2 (at the time of Mark’s passing). Remembering her husband, Cheryl said, “Mark was the best father in the world. The kids were everything to him.” Mark had a tradition of taking his children to McDonald’s every Saturday to give his wife time for herself. He loved hiking, skiing, and swimming with his children, as well as spending time at the family’s vacation home in Vermont. Mark always wanted to spend time with his family and when traveling for work, he would rather take midnight flights than miss a morning with his family. He enjoyed renovating the family’s home and had built a cathedral ceiling for his bedroom with Cheryl and had plans to build a swing set for his children. Mark was described by his friends and family as warm, caring, dedicated, and determined.

Mark worked as a senior vice president for Marsh & McLennan in Morristown, NJ. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Mark was attending a meeting at Marsh’s World Trade Center offices on the 100th floor of the North Tower, when Flight 11 struck the building, leaving his floor above the impassable impact zone. No one working at or attending Marsh’s offices survived the attack, including Mark. Though his life was unfairly cut short on September 11th, Mark’s love, accomplishments, and special memories made are forever cherished and remembered. His life and legacy are never forgotten.

Peter Anton Klein, 35 years old, North Tower 96th floor

Peter Anton Klein was born on May 2, 1966 to Hans and Ruth Klein. He had three sisters, Anne, Lisa, and Diana. He lived in Weehawken, NJ. Peter attended and graduated from Arlington High School, where he participated in the marching band and wind ensemble, and Clarkson University with Bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering. Peter married Maria Lorena Briones in August of 2000 in Monterey, Mexico. The pair had met online and fell in love upon meeting, having a very romantic and loving relationship with each other. Peter loved computers and was very skilled with them, having developed a natural programming language and established a career as a computer consultant. In his spare time, Peter enjoyed flying and was pursuing his pilot’s license. His first solo flight was in the summer of 2001. He also enjoyed playing volleyball and was a member of the New York Urban Professional Athletic League. Most of all, Peter enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and participating in family activities.

Peter worked as a computer consultant for Marsh & McLennan on the 96th floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Peter was working on a project for Marsh when Flight 11 struck the North Tower, leaving his floor directly within the impassable impact zone. Sadly, none of Marsh’s attending employees survived the attack, including Peter. Though his life was sadly cut short on September 11th, his legacy and spirit remain living forever. Peter’s life, love, and memory will always be remembered, never to be forgotten or lost to time.

Ruth Ellen Ketler, 42 years old, South Tower 94th floor

Ruth Ellen Kelter was born on October 31, 1958 in Jane and David Keller in Grove City, PA, where she also grew up. She lived in New York City, NY, in adulthood. Ruth attended and graduated from Grove City High School, Vassar College with a Bachelor’s degree, and New York University with a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Ruth was known to be a very caring person and was remembered by her friends and family as “the epitome of compassion”. She would often provide advice to her friends, visit colleagues if they were sick, and would always remember children’s birthdays. Her longtime sweetheart and companion, Robert Dow, said, “Ruth made you want to give something back to her.” In her free time, Ruth loved fishing in Cape Cod, betting on the Kentucky Derby, and hosting and cooking for dinner parties. Ruth was also described by her friends and family as kind, funny, gentle, and thoughtful.

Ruth worked as a senior vice president and director of research for Fiduciary Trust on the 94th floor of the World Trade Center’s South Tower. She was very well-liked and respected by her co-workers and colleagues and known to be one of the best analysts the company had. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Ruth was working on the 94th floor Ruth was working on the 94th floor when Flight 11 struck the North Tower. She called her boyfriend, Robert, to tell him what had happened and that they were being told not to evacuate. Then, another line started ringing so she said “I love you” and that she had to go. At 9:03 a.m., Ruth was on the 94th floor when Flight 175 struck the South Tower, leaving her floor above the impact zone. . Sadly, she was still inside the building upon its collapse and did not survive. Though her life was unfairly cut short on September 11th, Ruth will always be loved and remembered for the love, accomplishments, and memories made throughout her life. Her life and legacy will never be forgotten.
