On Saturday, May 16th, at 4 pm, there will be a memorial service for Robert Flanders at Unitarian Universalists of the Big Bend,
1308 N 5th Street in Alpine. Robert died peacefully in his home in February. He was an active member of the community for over 20 years, and was the son of Hal and Mary Flanders who were also residents of Alpine. He was known for selling food and crafts at the Farmers Market and as a member of Texas Master Naturalists among other things.

Everyone is welcome at this informal service. Come as you are.

For the Friday Feast this week, March 27, Cynthia will be making Garbanzo Pea Salad. This is similar to chicken salad, tuna salad, or egg salad, but with chick peas. It could go on a sandwich or with crackers, or be eaten out of a bowl.
There will be salad, a loaf of bread suitable for sandwiches, lettuce and tomatoes prepped for sandwiches, dessert, mushroom chips and pickles and more! You don't need to bring anything.

We start gathering at 5:30 and will eat at 6 pm. The dinner finishes at 7 pm. Hope to see you there!

The Sunday discussion service on March 15 will be "What's at the End of the Rainbow," based on the UU 4th principle: A free and responsible search for truth and meaning. Our discussion, led by Alexis, will be based on our different paths to enlightenment. A potluck will follow the service.
