🔥 IT’S HOT IN BIG BEND — AND THAT HEAT CAN BE DEADLY.

We’re saying this loud and clear: carry enough water and the right gear, or don’t go.

Those small 12 oz store-bought bottles? Not enough.
In this desert environment, you need at least 1 gallon (4 liters) of water per person per day—more if you're hiking. A hydration bladder is strongly recommended so you can drink frequently and easily.

☀️ Start early.
🌵 Be off the trail by noon.
📲 Check the weather.
🧭 Know your surroundings.

Hiking in extreme heat is dangerous—especially for children.
Kids overheat faster, dehydrate quicker, and may not recognize the signs of heat illness. If it’s too hot for you, it’s definitely too hot for them. Midday hikes in exposed areas put them at serious risk.

We’ve seen how quickly a simple hike can become an emergency when people aren’t prepared. Don’t take chances.

We finally had rain …… so w**d eating, bush and tree sculpting, work on living fence, removal of debris from tree trimming. Shaping up all the yard work! A morning of hard work before the next rain!
