Allentown Rescue Mission

Our sincere gratitude to Paul and Gloria Amenta for sharing 20 tickets to a Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs baseball game with the Mission! It was a beautiful night for our clients who are currently in the 8-week Transformation Program to watch the game and share a meal at the First Commonwealth Picnic Patio.

"I wanted to help the men have a night out of just being guys," Mr. Amenta said.

One of the guys even caught a baseball and had everyone sign it as a small memento of thanks for Paul and Gloria.

This week, our Clean Team Workforce has been hard at work for Monica, one of our regular clients. Monica has been hiring the Clean Team for several summers now to take care of her beautiful gardens. Jared and Jay have been tirelessly completing extensive weeding and general cleanup!

Meet Kenneth, a recent guest of our Emergency Shelter.

Kenneth began his career in New Jersey, working while studying for a medical degree. After earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, he had a career in general surgery while also teaching at a university.

In the past few years, Kenneth has faced severe personal and health challenges, including memory loss, mental health issues, and mobility challenges requiring the constant use of a cane. These issues led to his financial demise and his need to seek assistance at the Allentown Rescue Mission.

Kenneth aims to rebuild his life by joining the eight-week Transformation Program, using it as a springboard for finding new employment opportunities. Through it all, he is grateful to the Mission for the stability it provides, and to his family and five daughters for their support. Good luck, Kenneth!

This past month, our Clean Team Workforce was working hard at a large planting job in a local neighborhood. Jose and Jay worked tirelessly to get over 140 new plants in the ground, and completed the entire project ahead of schedule!
