The ABQ the Mag Best of the City categories have been reformatted in a way that I probably won’t take home a prize for my fridge this year 😩 instead of “Best Cakes” and “Best Cupcakes”, it’s been reworded to “Best Cake Shop”.

I GUESS the voting was indeed a really long process but imo it should have been more of a local focus as opposed to national chains. It’s a bummer that I’ve been working hard to make it as a scrappy lil catering/caking business and this title helps me go against national chains like Smallcakes Cupcakery because I don’t yet have a walk-in “shop” so to speak, so Howdy Cakes isn’t going to come up in people’s minds as a “Best Cake Shop”.

Anyways that’s why I haven’t really been campaigning super hard for the title, it’s such an uphill battle to be a small business and I have tons of personal life stresses that require so much steam to power through. I’m tired, bros!
