About your feature: Celebrated poet and cultural advocate Manuel González has been named the third New Mexico State Poet Laureate, a recognition that affirms his profound contributions to the literary arts and his enduring impact on New Mexico’s communities. Appointed by New Mexico Arts and the New Mexico State Library, divisions of the Department of Cultural Affairs, González will begin his three-year term effective immediately. González’s appointment marks the continuation of a powerful legacy rooted in poetry as a vehicle for healing, empowerment, and cultural memory. A former Albuquerque Poet Laureate (2016–2018), González is widely respected not only for his artistry on the page and stage, but also for his unwavering commitment to community and justice.

Your ABQ Poet Laureate, Damien Flores will be featuring! One of Burque’s truest, Flores brings his talent and storytelling to our mic! Flores has competed and featured on multiple final stages for national slam poetry events across the country.

Indigenous and Q***r Poeta, Eva Crespin, a Brave New Voices Finalist, Group Piece Champion and multi semi finalist for national slam competitions will also be throwing down poems!

Your host with the most, 2X ABQ WOWPS Champ Mercedez Holtry is switching hats and going poet mode for this special night! It’s her bday month and she wants nothing more than to celebrate by spitting poems and vibing to music with her amazing friends!
