The Metis team supporting the NASA Ames ATOM V contract work on the cutting edge of aerospace projects, including tests undertaken at the Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel, advancing Unsteady Pressure Sensitive Paint technology for wind tunnel testing, and designing and building a phased array for potential use during the Artemis II launch, just to name a few. We are so proud of the amazing work our ATOM staff do daily, and are happy to have the opportunity to support our Prime partner Jacobs and NASA ARC!

This year, highlights our partnership with Metis Technology Solutions. We reached out to CEO and Owner, Joy Colucci, to get some insight on her experience as a business owner.

1. What got you started in running your own business?
After spending 30 years working in aerospace as a NASA contractor, I saw an opportunity to use my experiences to develop a company that provided highly technical services but also adhered to my personal and professional principles. I knew I had the technical and managerial experiences to be successful, but the prospect of personal agency was a major influence.

2. What motivates you every day?
I’m motivated daily by the chance to provide quality services in a way that’s consistent with my values. I’ve been blessed to see Metis grow to a place where our employees are taken care of and where I can provide exceptional people with opportunities they might otherwise be denied.

3. What do you value about working with partners like Peraton?
People-focused companies like Peraton are excellent partners because there is no question about their motivations--that the employee and customer come first. Pursuing and executing contracts goes best when all members of the team have shared purpose, something I experience whenever Metis works with Peraton!
