Today, we lost Charlie Kirk. He was tragically assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025—a senseless act of political violence that cuts deep.

Charlie devoted his life to spreading freedom and protecting the values of our republic. He believed in open dialogue, even with those who disagreed with him. That courage to engage, not divide, is something to be admired.

He reached millions of young Americans, giving voice to those who believe in what this country truly stands for. It’s heartbreaking that he was taken from us for standing up for those values. We lost one of the good ones today. Enough is enough.

In this moment of deep sorrow, I lift up his wife, his children, and his family in prayer—may God grant them peace. Charlie’s legacy of debate, faith, and conviction must not die with him. If we stop listening to one another—especially those we disagree with—we risk losing our republic.

I pray this tragedy brings us together instead of tearing us apart. May we recommit to civil discourse rooted in truth, love, and respect.

“New Mexico has the potential for strong economic growth, if only these progressives wouldn’t hold us back through over-regulation, unrealistic work environments, and anti-business policies.”

It's truly disturbing that Democrats, including NM's Representatives, are so sold out to "party over people" that they wouldn't even stand up and clap for this little boy battling cancer. So heartless.

Thank you President Donald J. Trump for taking the time to honor this little patriot!

🚨🚨2nd amemendment updates!

Numerous gun control bills were filed and had hearings this past week in Santa Fe.

SB279, a proposed ban on semi-automatic rifles, magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, and other semi-automatic fi****ms, was filed this past week. The bill would ban the sale or transfer of the banned fi****ms and magazines. It is currently awaiting a hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Three gun bills were heard in the House Judiciary Committee this week. First, HB12, the "red-flag" gun confiscation expansion was passed out of the committee on a party-line vote. The bill now heads to the House Floor for a vote by all members of the New Mexico House of Representatives. Second, HB38, the "weapon conversion device" ban was also heard. A comprehensive amendment was brought in the committee that is supposed to narrow the focus of the bill to ban illegally obtained G***k Switches. Due to the significant changes to the bill, it was held back and not voted on by the committee (the amendment has yet to be released to the public).

A bill we support will be heard in the House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee next week. HB162 would repeal the 7-day firearm waiting period passed last year. There is an active lawsuit against that law, but a Federal Judge in Albuquerque denied the injunction asking to stop the law from going into effect while the litigation plays out. That committee hearing on Tuesday the 11th will start at 1:30pm (or later) in Room 317 (Zoom Link).
