"𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐞" 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 $𝟐𝟑𝟎,𝟗𝟏𝟖 at National Cutting Horse Association shows — all in Open events — and 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 in 2016 as 𝐍𝐂𝐇𝐀 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧. He was also the 2014 NCHA Reserve World Champion Stallion and 2013 Western National Open Champion, and he's a member of the 𝐍𝐂𝐇𝐀 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐞. Along the way he became the first horse in NCHA history to be an Affiliate Open Champion, Area Open Champion, National Open Champion, and World Open Champion, with wins in 21 limited-age (4/5/6-year-old) Open events across a ten-state region.

As a sire, 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐞'𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 $𝟐,𝟎𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 combined, including finalists at the NCHA Open Futurity and champions in both the NCHA Australian Open Futurity and NCHA Amateur Futurity. His dam, Uno Del Rey, has produced foals earning over $730,000.

“Flash” is a 2018 sorrel stallion by ONE TIME Pepto and out of Better Sue, by Bet On Me 498. He was raised by the Flag Ranch, the same program behind winning horses ridden by Rhen Richard, Tate Kirchenschlager, Cole Davison, and Trevor Brazile and started by elite cow horse trainer Matt Koch.

“Flash” made his performance debut in style, 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐚 #𝟏𝟒.𝟓 with Colby Lovell. At the 2023 Riata, 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩. In Lovell’s words: “He walked in the box every time, stayed focused, didn’t get rattled. That horse has been like that since day one.”

Purchased by Jason and Kisha Itkin of Theorem Ranch (Big Timber, Montana) in September 2023, Pepinstep now anchors their breeding program. Colby Lovell continues to use him on his Texas ranch while he stands to the public.
