🥶: Are you ready? Here comes the coldest air of the season and the coldest air in several years to North Carolina! An arctic blast will move into North Carolina Sunday-Tuesday with gusty winds Sunday evening into Monday, creating dangerous wind chills in the single digits for most areas, with some spots dropping below 0 °F Sunday night. Wind Chill values are is the feels like when the wind blows once factoring in the actual air temperatures in the 10s and single digits. The dangerously cold wind chills could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken. Well below freezing temperatures in the teens for most areas will also harm sensitive plants and could even damage exposed pipes

Cold Weather Tips:
Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
