She started piano lessons at age 6 and continued through high school. She also played Violin, Cello, and Clarinet with her Homeschool Strings Ensemble and Band. She started teaching piano and violin after high school. She earned her Associates in Arts degree from Stanly Community College in 2004, with a concentration on Music for Children.
