Today marks the first day of 2026 that a New York State Mesonet station has reached 90F or greater, with numerous stations reaching this threshold. Furthermore, tomorrow looks just as warm. Approximately one in three NYers are under a "Major" risk-level in the NWS HeatRisk product. Early season heat is often more impactful because our bodies have not yet acclimated to summertime weather.
