History comes alive this Saturday, July 11, as the Towns of Poestenkill and Sand Lake join together for a once-in-a-generation celebration of America's 250th Anniversary!
This special day honors the signing of the Declaration of Independence while celebrating the rich history, patriotism, and community spirit that have made these neighboring towns such an important part of Rensselaer County.

Schedule of Events:
Poestenkill VFW
2:00–2:30 p.m. – Opening Ceremony
• Welcome from town officials
• Presentation of the Colors
• Rifle salute
• National Anthem
• Proclamations and remarks
• A special historical reflection on America's 250th anniversary
2:45–3:30 p.m. – Community Parade
Beginning at the Poestenkill Fire Department and traveling along Main Street, the parade will feature:
• Fire departments
• Veterans organizations
• Civic groups
• Community floats
• Marching units.

Butler Park, Sand Lake
5:30–9:00 p.m. – Evening Celebration
Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy:
Live music by The Stray Dogs & Whiskey Highway
Food trucks
Local vendors
Beer tent
Family-friendly activities and fun for all ages
9:00 p.m. – Fireworks Finale
Cap off this historic celebration with a spectacular fireworks display lighting up the skies over Sand Lake!
