NLG Albany Chapter
👋🏽 hi all,
We know it’s been a rough ride already.
The Capital Region NLG is training more LOs and Pro Bono volunteers to help provide greater access to legal support for protest-related encounters with law enforcement.
If you are a law student, legal worker or attorney and want to help protect our Freedom of Speech, pls join the NLG & reach out for training updates.
If you are an organizer, and want to request Legal Observers or jail support, pls DM or email us or reach out on Signal.

Reminder: We provide legal support for political activists, protesters and movements for social change, including Know Your Rights and Legal Observer trainings, materials for supporting activists and more in the Capital Region and can connect groups to other NLG chapters wherever movements are happening.
We do not just show up without an invitation from organizers b/c we do not want to insert ourselves where we aren’t wanted. Organizers have to invite us to such events.
We can also help organizers plan their demonstration, explain legal risks around civil disobedience, and provide Know Your Rights training/information. NLG.org has a number of public resources too.
National Lawyers Guild The NLG has chapters across the U.S., organizing and litigating on local issues. All chapters belong to one of five regions, each led by NLG Regional Vice Presidents. Regional Conferences take place annually.

Hey Friends!
I'm raising funds to buy the items on the local urgent needs list so my mom can bring them to Rolling Fork, MS next week.
https://gofund.me/a5d191d0
You have heard about the tragic tornado that leveled Rolling Fork, MS on Friday, killing at least 25 people.
What you may not know is that Rolling Fork is a remote rural town of fewer than 2,000 residents; 73.92% of the residents are Black or African American and over 37% of the residents live below the poverty level. The community is struggling with securing supplies because the local stores have all been destroyed and there is nowhere nearby to buy them. I would normally donate to a local charity but in this case, people need the actual supplies brought in.
You may also know that my mom, Lisa, loves a long-distance road trip, and has volunteered to drive a truckload of supplies to Rolling Fork. She is a retired driver and an Army Veteran so I can assure you she is highly qualified for this mission.
I'm raising funds to buy the items on the local "urgent needs" list so my mom can bring them to MS. All funds raised will be used to buy these items and drive them to MS, except fees charged by this site.
We want to fill a truck and a tow trailer to make her drive worthwhile. Please donate a few bucks so we can send a full truckload of supplies to people in desperate need of help!
