This Saturday June 20th showing around 9:00. From glass lens to table, join us on a four wheel journey around town. Scenic streetscapes perfectly pair with maneuvers and the struggle surrounding them. This film follows like-minded friends exploring Akron’s native grooves while leaving behind a few marks of their own. Some dishes take longer to cook so please take a seat and dig in..

Thank you to everyone who made it out and showed support on Saturday. The evening truly captured it being a “place for friends”. Thank you Jay Croft for being the first person in the artist series and excited to see what comes next. Still a few of the boards left for those interested in shop and online soon.

It only made sense for the first artist in this hopefully long running series to be Jay.
I could talk about his art. The countless people and brands he’s worked with. The fact that he’s a pillar and ambassador to Akron and skateboarding. Instead I’ll talk about why it’s special to me.
In 2003, When I was 15, I saw a flyer that a skateboard shop opened down the street from me in Norton, Ohio. I’d been to other Skateshops but never had one that was local. Behind the counter was Jay. I had a lot of questions. Thankfully he had a lot of answers. And stories. And patience. The whole thing blew my mind. There was a ramp in the back. Couldn’t believe it. I made it my second home, Eventually crowbarring my way to sitting behind the counter. Where I met many of the people I still call friends today.
When I moved back to Akron I was skating with Jay talking about how i wished there was a shop in Akron. His response in a nutshell was “ Then open one. I’ll help with whatever you need” which he has.

Skateshop’s rule. It’s a place to tell stories, ask questions, meet up with friends and make new ones. Jay showed me that. And if it wasn’t for him there wouldn’t be a need.
Akron rules. The “flag” has always been here, but it’s easier to raise with friends. So thank you Jay and everyone else who has made this shop a “place for friends” special thanks to for the skateboarding. for his animations and .dv for making this video. See you on June 13th. 5-8
