‼️SEVERE WEATHER THREAT LATER TODAY from Few Tornadoes 🌪️ (up to EF2 possible), Damaging Wind Gusts 💨 greater than 75+mph possible and very Large Hail 🧊 greater than 2”+ possible!

The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded today’s threat to a Level 3 of 5 (ENHANCED RISK) for severe weather late this afternoon into tonight, with the greatest concern across Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.

➡️ THE PRIMARY THREATS:

💨 DAMAGING WINDS (75+ MPH POSSIBLE): As storms organize into a line this evening, widespread damaging winds are expected to become the main hazard.

🧊 VERY LARGE HAIL (2”+ POSSIBLE): Early storms may become supercells, capable of producing hail larger than 2 inches (tennis ball size or greater).

🌪️ TORNADO RISK (CONDITIONAL – UP TO EF2): A few tornadoes are possible, with a risk for a stronger tornado (up to EF2) if storms can remain discrete and on the warm side of the boundary.

➡️ WHAT TO EXPECT TIMEFRAME

• Late Afternoon: Storms begin developing along a strong cold front

• Early Evening: Supercells with large hail possible

• Evening into Night: Storms grow into a line with increasing wind threat

Storms will likely merge fairly quickly, which may limit how long the biggest hail threat lasts but increase the overall wind damage risk.

⚠️ Not everyone will see severe weather, but conditions support storms capable of becoming severe quickly. Stay alert this evening AND we suggest not to nap or sleep naked. Don’t want to be caught with your pants off!
