cer. It was the first banquet center in the city of Akron. As a first generation Sicilian born from Italian immigrants, he learned the meaning of poverty. Consequently, Mel quickly became known for his gracious benevolence. He routinely made donations to several local charities such as: IBH, Jerry’s Kids, The Haven of Rest & local families. He loved to bring people together with great Italian cuisine and prided himself on having the best available. “La Macchina Molta Bella” will proudly feature some of the great cars and great cuisine that Mel enjoyed so much. David Nelson has been friends with the Todaro family for over 30 years and became very close to Mel in his final years. David and Frank have shared affinity for collecting & car shows going back 20 years from attending Stan Hywett’s Father’s Day Car Show. They made a pledge to Mel while he was sick to organize a show in his honor, and have called on their vast car networks of friends to produce a sterling car show in memory of Mel and in support of the Kidney Foundation of Summit County. This is that show & these are great cars. Mel Todaro was a mountain of a man whose gentle spirit, contagious laughter, and love of life will live on through each of us eternally.
