· Community Involvement: Resident council, activities, events

Specific programs include:

• Resident Councils: Councils are not at every building development but are at many. To find out if your building has one, ask your property manager or contact RS for starting one.

• Early Childhood Initiative (ECI): ECI is for children under 5 and parents. ECI offers events for children and support for parents. Please contact RS to get in touch with an ECI coordinator.
• Parents as Teachers (PAT) - Home visits for children birth to 5 to prepare children for a stronger start in life. Enrollment required.
• Incredible Years - Behavioral health for young children and parents. Enrollment required.
• Mom-ME Time - Support groups for moms with children under 5. Childcare and food provided.
• Outreach Events - can include Touch a Truck, Concert in the Park, and Holiday Parties. Please view our calendar for more information.

• Reach Opportunity Center: Reach is in our Summit Lake neighborhood but is open to all residents and community members. There are several programs at Reach, many do require enrollment, but there are also open events and programs explained below. Program dates/times can vary due to holidays and weather. Please call ahead for any questions.

• Children/Youth (Enrollment is require for all of the below. Programs offered daily in most cases)
○ Early Start/Head Start 7am - 5pm:education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement
○ APS Early Learning Program (ELP) 8:30am - 2:30pm: provided by Akron Public Schools.
○ SPARK: home visitation for families with children ages 4-5.
○ Kindergarten 8:10am - 2:30pm: FREE all day kindergarten provided by Akron Public Schools.
○ Boys & Girls Club 2:30pm - 5:30pm: after school services for elementary age children.
○ Students with a Goal (SWAG) 5pm - 6pm: after school services for middle and high school students. Monday-Thursday, dinner provided.

• Adult (Enrollment required for some as stated. Not all programs offered daily)
○ Project Learn 9am-12pm & 5:30pm-8pm: GED exam prep. Enrollment required
○ Getting Ahead 9am - 12pm: workshops designed for self-sustainability. Enrollment required.
○ WorkKeys 1:30pm - 3:30pm: FREE assessment to match skill with employers.
○ Computer Training 1pm: basic computer use including email, internet, and Microsoft.
○ Summit County Jobs & Family Services: assist with services, paperwork, answering questions
Open Computer Lab M-F 9am - 4pm: open to the public as needed.
