This National Preparedness Month, we encourage Chickasaw citizens to learn more about the resources the Chickasaw Nation offers to help stay safe from and prepared for extreme weather events.

Through feedback from Chickasaw citizens, the homeowner preparedness grant was created to provide eligible Chickasaw homeowners up to $5,000 for natural disaster preparedness equipment and construction, including storm shelters, generators, sandbags and other related items.

The program expands upon the previous storm shelter program, which has assisted thousands of people since it began in 2003. We look forward to assisting even more Chickasaws in taking proactive steps to prepare for severe weather with the homeowner preparedness grant.
