So exciting!
The countdown is officially on. 🚴💚
We’re excited to share that the full Virginia Creeper Trail will reopen on March 31, 2027!
After Hurricane Helene cause extensive damage to the upper section of the trail in the fall of 2024, an incredible effort has been underway to rebuild this beloved Southwest Virginia treasure.
The extra time will allow the reconstructed upper trail section to settle through the winter, ensuring it’s safe, stable, and ready to welcome riders, hikers, runners, and families next spring.
Until then, there’s still plenty of adventure waiting. The Start to the Heart, the section of trail in downtown to Visit Damascus, Virginia remains fully open and welcoming trail lovers and offers nearly 17 miles of scenic views and fresh mountain air.
March 31, 2027 can’t come soon enough. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for the first full season on a restored Virginia Creeper Trail.
