With more than 80% of Ugandans relying on agricultural produce for their livelihood, limited transport opportunities lead to huge a huge amount of harvest wastage and perishable goods not reaching their markets in time, thus inhibiting economic growth. Poor farmers try to overload boda-bodas to deliver their produce to the markets. Women carry enormous loads over miles from their villages into town. And water for fields and homes is often carried in small quantities by hand because large water trucks are expensive and unable to reach all areas. But the problem goes beyond agriculture. Mothers up-country have limited means of getting to hospitals to deliver, and doctors cannot easily reach their patients at home. Services such as milling, refuelling and various trainings are expensive and inaccessible to rural populations given their positioning in larger towns and cities. Mobility and affordability are key!

The Trans Boda is a conversion kit for a boda-boda that is affordable, relying on locally manufactured components only, that can be ridden by women as well as men. It includes an engine performance boost and a basic platform that can accommodate a wide range of attachments to transport solid loads, perishables, fluids or passengers. It handles challenging terrains and poor road networks and features an extended generation system to charge high capacity batteries to supply households with basic electrical appliances. Energy recuperation from braking and riding steep descents further increases the efficiency of the electrical system.

Frame and wheels powder coated. Tank, fairing and seat painted with Rolls Royce colour from sikkens.
Cafe racer seat from fighter machines. Parts from LSL,KOSO,DID,Lucas. Tarozzi foot rests, Nissin break pumps.....all imported from Germany and many custom made parts from Triebwerk motorcycles
