The National Population Council is a government agency that was established by an Act of Parliament in 2014 to coordinate the implementation of the National Population Policy and Population Programme in Uganda. In his Opening remarks, our acting Director General Mr. Omwa Samson Samuel noted that realizing the Demographic Dividend requires strategic policies and investments in critical areas such as education, health, employment, and social protection.
It is not simply a result of population numbers but rather a consequence of well-planned and inclusive development strategies, Our day two sub-theme on "Capturing Demographic Opportunities for Uganda's Public Policies" will shed more light on this.
