I recently had the honor of judging Mr & Miss Cavendish 2026—and it left me thinking deeply.
We have talent. We have platforms. But are we building impact?
University pageants in Uganda are growing fast, yet many still lack structure, direction, and long-term value for contestants and institutions.
This is a conversation we must have.
I’ve shared my thoughts on:
• What’s missing
• Why regulation matters
• How pageantry can shape future leaders

IP is no longer Optional for Fashion Entrepreneurs
My participation in the WIPO–URSB IP Gamification Pilot Project (IP in a Box), came at the right time for Uganda’s fashion industry.
As a fashion industry leader and through the work of the Pearl of Africa Fashion Alliance (PAFA), we have been advocating for better fashion education standards, especially the need to improve and standardize our curriculum so that it reflects the realities of today’s fashion business. This campaign answers that call.
Through simple board and card games, entrepreneurs including my fashion designers were able to:
• Understand how to protect their designs, brand names, and collections
• Learn when and why to register trademarks and industrial designs
• Build IP strategies that support long-term business growth
• See IP not as theory, but as a practical business tool
This is how learning should happen, practical, engaging, and relevant.
To every fashion entrepreneur reading this:
Use IP as a tool to strengthen your business.
Creativity alone is no longer enough. Protection, strategy, and structure are what will help Ugandan fashion brands compete locally and globally.
At PAFA, we are proud to be part of this history-making initiative alongside and , and we are committed to integrating these IP games into our upcoming mentorship programs and IP clinics. Our goal is to make IP learning simple, accessible, and effective for every designer and fashion entrepreneur as we also Introduce Fashion Law in Uganda officially.
The future of fashion belongs to those who understand both creativity and ownership.
