A terrifying worst-case scenario projection for Liberia and Sierra Leone (not including Guinea!); 1.4 million cases of the Ebola virus by January 20, 2015. With a mortality rate of ~50% that is 700,000 deaths.
On the other hand it is important to note ***this is only a projection and a worst-case projection at that***.
The best-case scenario is the epidemic will almost be ended by the same date (January 20, 2015).
With the United States Government committing 3,000 troops and medical equipment this takes us a step closer to the best-case scenario, although is not enough in itself. We all hope the international community increases its response to help.
