Today, we celebrate World Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Day to raise awareness and understanding of these conditions and advocate for the rights of people who live with them.
Spina bifida and hydrocephalus are birth defects that affect the brain and spinal cord. Spina bifida occurs when the spinal cord does not form properly, while hydrocephalus is a buildup of fluid in the brain. Both conditions can cause a variety of physical and developmental challenges, but with proper care and support, people with spina bifida and hydrocephalus can live full and active lives.
