Inner peace as the foundation for lasting social and economic change.

#AWAGO #TranscendentalMeditation

20/04/2026

Across communities in Uganda, women and girls are rising with clarity, strength, and purpose because they have access to something powerful that is often overlooked: inner peace.

At AWAGO, we begin with Transcendental Meditation because when a woman is calm, she thinks clearly. When she is strong within, she leads. When she leads, families and communities change.

This video is more than a story. It is a reflection of what becomes possible when mental wellness, leadership, and opportunity come together.

Because when women and girls experience peace within, communities flourish.

Across Uganda, many women carry enormous emotional and economic responsibilities.

They support families, manage financial pressures, and often navigate trauma and uncertainty, frequently with limited access to mental health support.

Mental well-being is therefore not only a health issue. It is a development issue.

A new randomised controlled trial conducted with women in Uganda explores how Transcendental Meditation can support psychological resilience and coping.

Understanding solutions like these is essential because empowering women requires addressing emotional well-being alongside economic opportunity.

This International Women’s Day, we joined an inspiring community of women at the Women’s Day Run Uganda organized by Activate Uganda. The event was a powerful reminder that women’s empowerment is deeply connected to wellbeing, resilience, and the strength we cultivate within ourselves.

At AWAGO, we believe that inner calm and mental resilience are the foundation of leadership, opportunity, and lasting transformation. When women nurture their emotional wellbeing and clarity of mind, they strengthen their capacity to lead in their families, workplaces, and communities.

It was deeply inspiring to witness women coming together in solidarity to celebrate health, strength, and the shared commitment to building a future where women and girls can thrive.

When a woman strengthens her inner resilience, she unlocks the power to uplift others. Families grow stronger, communities become more peaceful, and societies move closer to equality and opportunity for all.

Today we celebrate the women who continue to lead with courage, compassion, and vision.

Happy International Women’s Day.
