"We need to be careful that we do not add our own man-made rules to the Scriptures. Some convictions that we hold dearly may be derived more from our particular Christian culture than derived from Scripture, and we need to learn to discern the differences. It is okay to have cultural convictions, but we should be careful that we do not elevate them to the same authority as Scripture. So much judgmentalism among Christians today occurs because we do this."~Jerry Bridges
Come let us get into the scriptures together. Every Wednesday at 5:30pm..as we journey through St. John's Gospel at Bethel House of Prayer, Kikumi Kikumi.

Our featured book of the day: Biblical Preaching: The Development and Delivery of Expository Messages. (Haddon W. Robinson)
Are you preaching this Sunday? Have you been given that call by your pastor or reverend to preach on Sunday on a certain passage?
Where do you start from to prepare not just a motivational talk but an expository sermon? And preach biblically?
Biblical preaching requires both skill and faith. As Robinson reminds us, ministers are the only professionals who have people assemble weekly to hear what they have to say. “We preachers use words as tools, and we ought to use them with both thoughts and skill” (147). We can and should improve. That’s our challenge and our opportunity.

Our featured book of the day: Not a Fan
The biggest threat to the church today is fans who call themselves Christians but aren’t actually interested in following Christ. They want to be close enough to Jesus to get all the benefits, but not so close that it requires anything from them.
