Being handicapped is already a challenge to adolescent children that stops many from attaining quality education.
Limitations such as lack of inclusion for all , Equity, mental health support, as well as stigma, transportation or easy movement to and fro from school pose as challenges to them.
On top of that menstrual health issues are also very critical towards the adolescent girls. Many girls stay away from school because of lack of menstrual health requirements such as sanitary towels.
If girls are to enjoy the full benefits of education they need to be supported with all of their menstrual health requirements.
It's my humble appeal that we double our efforts to ensure that disabled girls not only are able to attend schools but are also able to access the menstrual health requirements they need to ensure that they keep accessing education just like any other normal girls.
As we come to a close of the women's month(March) I foster a movement to each and everyone to see to it that disabled girls aren't left behind in terms of acquiring education and be included in all sectors in this country.
It is a huge pleasure to have been hosted by the Kampala school of the handicapped.
