We are pleased to announce Uganda’s proposed tallest skyscraper at 220 metres above ground located
at the junction of Lugogo Bypass road and Nviri Lane in Kololo, Kampala’s most affluent
neighbourhood. The project began its design phase in mid 2024 by a skilled design team of architects
with award winning credentials at Angiletti Design Studio.
The project which has already been submitted to local planning authorities at the National
Environmental Management Authority and Kampala Capital City Authority is expected to commence
construction in 2026.
With 54 floors above the Lugogo Bypass street level and 2 basements, the tower features 300 serviced
apartments, 203 hotel rooms/suites, 8 penthouses, a health club floor including a swimming pool,
gymnasium and sauna/steam rooms amongst other amenities. Restaurants, conference halls, ample car
parking and other support facilities have also been provided in the skyscraper.
The tower adopts its name from the shape of its site that depicts a Diamond. Therefore the entire
typical plan of the skyscraper is an abstract Diamond shape.
The height of the tower was driven mainly by feasibility studies done by the Angiletti Design Studio
team that revealed Kampala city has a population estimate of over 4,500,000 on 176 square kilometres
equating to a population density of at least 25,568 inhabitants per square kilometre. The population
density is slated to grow to over 73,000 inhabitants per square kilometre in Kampala city by 2061.
Given the generational planning of 35 years in the future, the building typology for the urban planning
of Kampala dictates that no housing project below 12 storeys on the 176 square kilometres of city
land should be encouraged. The city has experienced a number of slum developments over time due to
the high population density pressure. Therefore the tower emulates the direction the housing typology
of Kampala city should be heading to curtail the adverse effects the high population density shall have
on the city environment in the future.
360 degree views around the tower are enhanced by high performance multilayer glazing that ensures
thermal comfort for occupants by blocking 99% UV rays.
When completed, the tower shall add a dominant landmark to the ever growing skyline of Kampala
city and usher the metropolis into a calibre of top notch building technology and luxury synonymous
with some of the world’s most developed cities.
