Are dado rails useful ? 🤔

A dado rail is a moulding fixed horizontally on the wall. It can also be called a chair rail. In this particular project (Latter Day Saints Church Kansanga), we used a timber dado rail.
Dado rails are both for aesthetic and functional purposes. Historically, dado rails were used in the lower parts of the wall, which were susceptible to stains from rising damp.

Dado rails protect the walls from abrasion from passing furniture and traffic.

Dado rails come in handy in hospital spaces.
