From Stigma to Smiles this Women's History Month

This month, as we celebrate women's achievements, a story being shared time and again holds immense value: the power of a genuine smile and the courage to normalize menstruation.

For too long, periods have been whispered about, hidden in brown bags, or treated as a taboo subject in professional spaces. But true inclusion means creating an environment where every girl and woman feels seen, supported, and comfortable in her own skin.

When we normalize menstruation, we aren't just talking about biology; we are talking about:
✅ Dignity: Ensuring access to products without shame.
✅ Productivity: Supporting employees through cycle-related challenges with empathy, not silence.
✅ Culture: Building workplaces where "feminine health" is part of the wellness conversation, not a secret.

Let's make this month count by turning those whispers into open conversations. Let's ensure that the most valuable story we share is one where every girl can face her day with confidence and a smile, unburdened by stigma.

At RIGHT PATH, we believe menstrual hygiene is far more than access to products; it’s a fundamental pillar of dignity, equity, and opportunity for girls. Through our Girlcare initiative, we go beyond pads and supplies to advocate for safe environments in schools and communities across Uganda. We work alongside local leaders, parents, teachers, and girls themselves to reshape harmful attitudes, dismantle stigma, and foster environments where menstruation is understood, respected, and supported.

By ensuring access to clean spaces and strong peer and mentor support networks, Girlcare directly links menstrual health to educational equity. When girls aren’t held back by shame, fear, or a lack of infrastructure, they stay in school, participate fully, and pursue their potential with confidence.

Our holistic approach weaves together menstrual health education, sustainable resources, behavior change, and community mobilization to create lasting impact. This is how we advance our vision: a world where menstruation never limits a girl’s right to learn, lead, and thrive, and where every educated girl becomes a catalyst for positive change in her family, community, and beyond. Every girl child is a story waiting to unfold. At Right Path, those chapters come alive when girls connect deeply with their communities and the natural world.

This International Day of the Girl, we celebrate all those who empower girls to embrace their femininity and lead change—even in times of crisis.
