For years, interaction design was built on a very stable assumption: systems don’t act unless users do.

We designed flows, screens, and logic around that idea — guiding people step by step, making sure they always knew where they were and what to do next.

But that model starts falling apart the moment systems stop waiting. You don’t move through a predefined journey anymore. You state intent, and the system decides how to execute it. That shift might sound subtle, but it breaks most of what interaction design relies on: predictability, control, and linearity.
