Аварія 1986 року на Чорнобильській АЕС була не першою. За даними КДБ, які розсекретила СБУ, аварії на станції траплялися і раніше. Однією з найсерйозніших вважалася аварія, що сталася у вересні 1982 року. На першому енергоблоці зруйнувався один із технологічних каналів реактора. Тоді у повітря потрапили радіоактивні речовини, ліквідація наслідків зайняла близько трьох місяців. Офіційно постраждалих не було.

Then radioactive substances got into the air, elimination of consequences took about three months. There were no official casualties.

Уцілілий дитячий садок у закопаному селі Копачі. Село ліквідували у 1988 році, через сильне радіаційне забруднення. Біля кожної будівлі виривався котлован, бульдозер своєю лапою зносив будинок у яму, а потім закопував. Зараз про село нагадують пагорби з табличками "Радіація", Пам'ятник невідомому солдатові, База МТС (моторно-тракторна станція) та Дитячий садок.
Будинок та інтер'єр дитячого садка показали у документальному фільмі "Життя після людей" (2008 рік)

A surviving kindergarten in the dug-in village of Kopachi. The village was liquidated in 1988 due to severe radiation pollution. Near each building, a foundation pit was pulled out, a bulldozer demolished the building with its paw into a hole, and then buried it. Now the village is reminiscent of mounds with signs "Radiation", the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, the MTS Base (motor-tractor station) and the Kindergarten.
The building and interior of the kindergarten were shown in the documentary "Life after people" (2008)
