‼️ 5 THINGS TO KNOW WHEN BOOKING A PRIVATE CAR IN TAIWAN

Recently, we’ve received many booking inquiries, and many customers have questions about car types, child seats, and luggage space. To make your booking experience smoother and easier, here’s a helpful guide for you 😊

1️⃣ Car Types

In Taiwan, the most common vehicle types are 5-seater, 9-seater, and 20-seater or above.
🚫 7-seater vehicles are gradually disappearing from the market.
5-seater: 4 passengers + 1 driver
9-seater: 8 passengers + 1 driver
(Some models can only fit 7 adults + 1 child)
20-seater: 19 passengers + 1 driver
23-seater: 22 passengers + 1 driver
⚠️ Overloading is not allowed in Taiwan and may result in police fines.

2️⃣ Luggage Capacity 🧳

Each vehicle has different luggage limits:
5-seater:
– Up to 3 large suitcases, or
– 2 large + 2 medium suitcases
9-seater:
– Up to 8 large suitcases
20–23 seater:
– Suitable for large amounts of luggage

3️⃣ Child Car Seats 👶

Children under 4 years old are required by law to use a child car seat in private cars
(This rule does NOT apply to 20-seater vehicles or larger).
Available options:
5-seater: 1 child seat + 1 booster seat
9-seater: 2 child seats + 1 booster seat

4️⃣ Why Is the License Plate Black and White? 🚘

Some guests are surprised when the car that picks them up doesn’t have a red license plate.
Here’s how it works in Taiwan:
Authorized private tour vehicles: Plate starts with “R”
Taxi / Uber: Red text on a white background
✅ As long as the vehicle has an R plate and the driver holds a professional driver’s license, it is completely legal.
