🏵️ We are very happy to announce that Lara Ögel will be part of Dissident Chorus, the Busan Biennale 2026 edition led by co-artistic directors Evelyn Simons and Amal Khalaf. Taking place across three venues in Busan, South Korea, the biennale will run from August 29 to November 1, 2026.
Set in Busan, a port city shaped by movement, labour, migration, maritime exchange, and histories of civic assembly, Dissident Chorus asks how sound can become a language of resistance and solidarity. Rooted in the belief that sound, like water, resists containment, the exhibition follows sonic and embodied practices as living forms of communication, healing, resistance, and relation.
From work songs and protest songs to ritual rhythms, club sounds, and collective chants, sound has long organised bodies, carried memory, and opened spaces of solidarity when language is restricted or exhausted. At the same time, Dissident Chorus returns to language’s potential to hold ambiguity, complexity, and secrets, moving beyond grammar and sanctioned speech to attend to gesture, breath, rhythm, and the presence of bodies gathered in proximity.

Hera Büyüktaşcıyan’s ongoing solo exhibition Phantom Quartet, curated by Nilüfer Şaşmazer, is on view at Arter until August 30, 2026.
The works on display point to the ruptures in urban history through the artist’s personal past rooted in the two neighbourhoods surrounding Arter, namely Kurtuluş and Tarlabaşı. Bringing together the works produced by the artist for this exhibition with a selection of earlier works, some drawn from the Arter Collection, the exhibition explores dualities such as presence and absence, life and death, body and spirit, erasure and reconstruction across four distinct chapters.

🍬 Hüseyin Bahri Alptekin’in Heimat Toprak eseri ve H-Faktörü: Misafirperverlik/Hüsumet serisinden bir seçki, Selen Ansen’in küratörlüğünde gerçekleşen Gökyüzü Şekerdendi isimli karma sergi kapsamında 28 Mart 2027 tarihine kadar Arter’de görülebilir.
Serginin çocuksu duygularla örülü bir açık hava sahnesini çağrıştıran başlığı, E. E. Cummings’in Songs I (Şarkılar I, 1938) adlı şiirinin açılış kıtasından ilham alıyor. •
Hüseyin Bahri Alptekin’s artwork Heimat Toprak and a selection of works from the series H-Fact: Hospitality/Hostility are currently on view at Arter until March 28, 2027, as part of the group exhibition titled The Sky was Candy, curated by Selen Ansen.
Suggestive of an outdoor scene infused with childlike sensation, the exhibition’s title draws inspiration from the opening stanza of E. E. Cummings’ “Songs I” (1938). This picturesque phrase that turns the world into something “edible” and colourful by bringing together words that don’t habitually coexist, addresses the ways memory and imagination filter reality, while retaining an abstract quality that allows for multiple interpretations.
