April 7 marks World Pediatric Surgery Day, a global call to action for children’s surgical care.

Millions of children worldwide still lack access to the surgical care they need. Through continued partnership and advocacy, we can close that gap and ensure every child, regardless of where they live, has the opportunity to thrive.

Led by the World Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgeons (WOFAPS), this day reflects a shared commitment first formalized in the Kyoto Declaration, affirming that every child has the right to safe, timely surgical care delivered by trained specialists.

At Global Initiative for Children's Surgery (GICS), we are proud to stand alongside WOFAPS and partners around the world to advance equitable surgical care for children.

Because access to surgery is not optional, it is essential.
