Happy World Environment Day — 5 June 2026! 🌍
This year's theme — "Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future" — reminds us that nature already holds the answers we need. Forests, oceans, soil, and every living creature around us are sending us signals. The question is: are we listening?
At Lafaek, we are always encouraging children, teachers, and young people to love and care for the environment — and our poem "Kuidadu Ambiente" from Edition 3/2025 of Lafaek Ki'ik reminds us that this world is beautiful, and we all have a part to play in protecting it. Give it a read, share it with the little ones that we know, and let the poem open their hearts and knowledge! 🌱
Together, let's care for the world we leave behind for the next generation. 💚

This week, our Jornalista Lafaek Fila-liman team had the privilege of interviewing Mr. Jorge Manuel de Araújo Serrano, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Timor-Leste (CCI-TL), at his office in Acait, Dili. We are incredibly grateful for his valuable time and for sharing his inspiring journey from being an orphan of war to leading the nation's private sector!
Mr. Serrano shared that business is his ultimate passion, but emphasized that being a good entrepreneur isn't just about money—it requires strict management of finance and resources. He highlighted his strong advocacy for young startups, proposing a tax-free grace period so youth can focus on passion and experience first. He also praised women entrepreneurs for their excellent management skills, sharing his dream to see more women rise as major business leaders in Timor-Leste.
"Good entrepreneurs innovate and provide solutions; they don't just copy others. If people from other countries can succeed in our land, why can't we, the owners of the land, succeed!"
