What is competitive procurement?

Competitive procurement, which includes tenders and auctions, ensures cost-effectiveness, quality, and specifications of energy and energy products procured. A well-designed competitive mechanism streamlines the procurement decision-making, while a transparent timeline and process can boost investor confidence and encourage greater bidder participation, thus improving procurement outcomes. THE USAID SPP has established a Competitive Procurement Center (CPC) as a central clearinghouse for providing best practices and technical assistance to promote transparent, competitive procurement of advanced energy systems, including clean energy, clean technologies, and products or services relating to the energy transition.
