The SCF 2025 journey to create positive impacts is very challenging. However we were able to work on increasing water supply, water treatment, and biological water qaulity investigation.

Stop the illegal minings releasing toxic wastes into Kok river!
No dams along Kok river !

On 5 August,2025 The SCF committee in Romthai fixed up the first check dam at Huai nam Yon stream. The dam halps stop sand and gravels during flood in rainy season. Then keep water underneath the stream surface in dry season.

Huai Nam Yon is very important water source for locals' consumption at Romthai. It becomes more important as now Kok river is contaminated with arsenic and other heavy metals. The Kok water quality is deteriorated as the illegal mining in Myanmar released toxic wasyes into the river.

It is almost six months after we noticed the muddy Kok river. However, the Thai government does not declare any policies to discuss with Myanmar to stop the illegal mining operations.
