🌏 for Cities Week 2026 | Local Partners

DARR Studio / Ar. Samman Qayyum

Ar. Samman Qayyum is an architect, urbanist, and Assistant Professor, and the founder of DARR Studio.
Her work sits at the intersection of climate resilience, community engagement, and cultural heritage. Through research, teaching, and participatory design, she bridges academia and practice, working closely with communities and young professionals to imagine locally grounded, climate-responsive futures across Pakistan and beyond.

Laajverd

Laajverd is a research- and practice-based organisation working at the intersections of cultural geography, design, and the arts.
For over a decade, they have collaborated with mountain communities to document and sustain cultural practices, while supporting local academics and heritage workers in ethical approaches to preservation. Their work spans policy-making, community museums, and research on fragile cultural landscapes under climate change.

Tehzeeb Hassan (Visual Artist)

Tehzeeb Hassan is a visual artist based in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Drawing from local art styles, street culture, and political expression, his work transforms everyday urban realities into bold visual narratives. Through public-facing and site-specific artworks, he explores questions of identity, power, and place within Pakistan’s evolving urban landscape.

for Cities is excited to announce for Cities Week 2026 Islamabad, a collective research program combining learning and practice across cities.

Following Tokyo, Kyoto, Cairo, Ho Chi Minh City, and Chiang Mai, the next destination is Islamabad, Pakistan — a planned city where diverse local communities and everyday practices coexist.

The 2026 theme is “Heights.” Beyond physical elevation, participants explore multiple forms of “heights,” developing urban research based on their own interests. While staying in Islamabad, participants conduct field research based on their own interests. The program also includes workshops, talks, and guided tours.

A city you might not have reached on your own. Join for Cities, local partners, and urbanists from around the world for an intensive week of learning, thinking, and research. 🌏✨

都市体験のデザインスタジオ for Cities が贈る、世界を舞台にした学びと実践のコレクティブ・リサーチ・プログラム「for Cities Week 2026 Islamabad」の開催が決定！

これまで東京、京都、カイロ、ホーチミン、チェンマイと開催してきたfor Cities Week。今回の舞台は、計画都市でありながら多様なローカルコミュニティの日常的実践が共存する都市、パキスタン・イスラマバードです。

丘陵地帯の麓に位置するイスラマバードは、地形、都市計画、制度、暮らしが複層的に重なり合う都市でもあります。

こうした環境を背景に、今年のテーマは「Heights（高さ）」。物理的な高さにとどまらず、多様な「Heights」という視点から、ご自身の関心を起点に都市をリサーチしていきます。

イスラマバードの街に滞在しながら、それぞれの関心に基づいたフィールドリサーチを行います。期間中には、ワークショップやトークセッション、ガイドツアーなどの機会も用意されています。

1人では行けなかったかもしれない都市。for Citiesと現地パートナー、そして世界中のアーバニストと共に学び、考え、自身のリサーチを実践する濃密な1週間を過ごしませんか？🌏✨

• Một chuyến đi bộ có hướng dẫn cộng với khám phá cận cảnh côn trùng, hạt giống, kết cấu và những sinh vật nhỏ bé đang cùng chung sống trong môi trường của chúng ta.
