Atelier Rudee

Atelier Rudee is truly honored to be part of this meaningful process.

This September, we welcomed back Willie and Oliver as participants in the Taitung Craft International Residency 2025, supported by the Taitung County Government.

Willie is dedicated to reviving the traditional beaded headdress of the Farangaw subtribe — a cultural expression nearly lost through colonization and the suppression of Indigenous identity. Alongside Oliver, their journey is not only about craft but about reconnection, storytelling, and cultural continuity.

Their first step into metalwork began in August during our 5-day Basic Jewellery course. In September, they returned to continue developing the headdress at Atelier Rudee, followed by an exhibition and a flower beading workshop at TCDC, Bangkok.

What took shape during their time here goes far beyond the physical pieces. The real significance lies in the conversations that emerged through making — exchanges that reconnect people to heritage, memory, and meaning. It is not the objects themselves, but the dialogue they bring forward that gives this work its true power.

Craft is the medium, but it is the people and the stories that make it matter.

นิทรรศการและเวิร์คชอปโดย SIWA ศิลปินชาวอามิสจากไต้หวันมาจัดที่ Open Space, TCDC, กรุงเทพฯค่ะ

เป็นนิทรรศการพื้นที่เล็กๆที่บอกเล่าเรื่องราวทางวัฒนธรรมของชาวเผ่าอามิสฟารังกาวในไต้หวัน ผ่านเครื่องประดับศรีษะแบบดั้งเดิมที่ศิลปินรื้อฟื้นขึ้นมาอีกครั้ง นอกจากเครื่องประดับศรีษะที่นำมาจัดแสดง ศิลปินได้จัดทำวิดีโอขึ้นเพื่อแสดงในงานนี้ด้วย

บ่ายวันที่ 28 กันยายน วันสุดท้ายของนิทรรศการนี้ SIWA, ศิลปินเจ้าของผลงาน, จะจัดเวิร์คชอปสอนทำเครื่องประดับผมด้วยวิธีเดียวกับที่ใช้ในงานเครื่องประดับศรีษะอามิสฟารังกาวนี้ เป็นชิ้นเล็กที่ตั้งแต่เด็กน้อยจนถึงผู้เฒ่าก็มาทำได้ในเวลาชั่วโมงกว่าๆ ได้เครื่องประดับติดผมกลับบ้านคนละอัน ^^

🌸มรดกที่ผลิบาน: ชุบชีวิตเครื่องประดับศีรษะลูกปัด – ชนเผ่าอมิส ฟารังกาว ไถตง ไต้หวัน🌸

ธรรมเนียมประเพณี เป็นทั้งความทรงจำและมรดกทางวัฒนธรรม ทว่าหลายประเพณีกลับค่อย ๆ เลือนหายไปในสังคมปัจจุบัน ไม่ว่าจะด้วยการขาดการ สืบทอดหรือความขัดแย้งทางประวัติศาสตร์ที่ทำให้ผู้คนไม่กล้าถือปฏิบัติและถูกลืมเลือนไปในท้ายที่สุด

เครื่องประดับศีรษะ “ฟารังกาว” ของชนเผ่าอมิสในไต้หวัน ก็เป็นหนึ่งในสิ่งที่หายสาบสูญไปเป็นเวลาเกือบหนึ่งศตวรรษ จากนโยบายกลืนชาติของญี่ปุ่น โดยเมื่อปี 2023 ฟารังกาว ก็ได้รับการฟื้นฟูขึ้นอีกครั้งโดยช่างฝีมือ Wang, Chien-chieh (SIWA) ซึ่งอ้างอิงจากภาพถ่ายเอกสารเก่าและปรับใช้วัสดุสมัยใหม่ สร้างสรรค์เครื่องประดับที่ผู้เฒ่าผู้แก่ยังจดจำได้

𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗔𝗝𝗙 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱, 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗴

This competition is open to 𝗮𝗹𝗹 jewelry makers under the age of 35. It aims to recognize innovative work created by a jewelry artist early in their career. Via the Young Artist Award, Art Jewelry Forum supports exciting new work that will inspire future developments in the field.

★ US$7,500 for the winner
★ the winner and four finalists exhibit at Platina during Schmuck in March 2026
★ an interview on AJF's web magazine (winner and finalists)
★ US$1,000 apiece for the finalists
★ travel allowance for the winner and finalists to go to Munich to receive their awards

The benefits of winning (and of being a finalist) certainly ripple out far beyond the financial. Past recipients have said the prize boosted their energy and motivation. The sense of encouragement and support they received from people in the field enhanced their confidence. And the award advanced their careers due to increased exposure, networking connections, and exhibition opportunities.

For a fourth cycle, the AJF Young Artist Award competition is generously supported by the collectors Karen and Michael Rotenberg, whose collection focuses on the innovative use of alternative materials by emerging and mid-career artists. AJF is deeply grateful for their commitment, and also to Platina gallery's Sofia Björkman for providing a venue to display the work of the winner and finalists.
