Doodling The Year Ahead for HDR Students Workshop

10am - 12pm on Friday 12 December
CARI Main Room 7.05, S02 Webb Centre, Griffith University South Bank Campus

In collaboration with Creative Arts Research Institute - CARI and GFS HDRs, Doodling the Year Ahead is a creative workshop that invites HDR candidates to play, observe, and engage more attentively with their surroundings.

The session encourages personal reflection through intuition, spontaneity, and improvisation, offering a gentle and imaginative way to ease into the year ahead. Designed to inspire curiosity and creative exploration, the workshop introduces participants to doodling as a form of animation practice.

The workshop will be facilitated by Thanut Rujitanont, a PhD candidate at the Griffith Film School. All HDR candidates from Griffith Film School, the Queensland Conservatorium, and the Queensland College of Art and Design are warmly invited to attend. A light morning tea will be provided.

Participants will be introduced to an art of observing through the lens of animation, including:

- Understanding the principles of hand-drawn animation
- Exploring expression through doodled lines
- Experimenting with rhythm, motion, and observation
- Reflecting on intuition and improvisation in creative practice

Rose Rash (2024) by Thanut Rujitanont and To the Mars and Back (2024) by Chanya Hetayothin were selected in the ‘Bizarre Competition’ at T-Short Animated Films 2025. 😃

Selection 2025 – T-Short Animated Film A total of 335 films were included in all T-Short programs, which followed the T-Short format and, in our opinion, were the best of the submitted works.

Dalah Kali, a feature animated film by Chanon Treenet and Najaree Ratanajiajaroen, has been selected for the Thai Project Pitching at BKKIFFofficial, taking place from October 1–4, 2025 at ICONSIAM, Bangkok!
