SPLM Inter-Payam League kicks off in Magwi County.

Magwi ( 5 January 2023).... SPLM Inter-Payam Football Games have kicked off in the Eastern Equatoria town of Magwi on Thursday.

SPLM Chairman in Eastern Equatoria Cde. Louis Lobong Lojore kicked the ball setting off the two weeks competition.

In the opening match Magwi Payam defeated Iwire Payam 1-0 in the highly packed Freedom Square.

Addressing the mammoth crowd Lobong said the government is committed to transforming the sports industry in the State.

He said th SPLM annual sponsored tournament is aimed at giving the youth a platform to exercise their talents in a peaceful environment.

Lobong used the occasion to call for the culture of hard work among the people of Magwi in an effort to produce enough food to feed the growing population in the State.

"Together We Can improve our lives. Let's make use of our land, let's make wealth for ourselves", Lobong emphasized.

SPLM State Secretary Cde. German Charles Ojok, encouraged the youth to stay away from harmful activities, but rather engaged in productive practices.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Margaret Idua Okuye, expressed government keenness to strengthen sports activities in Eastern Equatoria.

The Commissioner of Magwi County Otto David Remson, lauded the State Governor for for the prevailing stability in the area.

This is the fourth year in a row for the SPLM Inter-Payam Football Tournament.

The head of Magwi County Local Football Association says the games give SPLM an avenue to popularized its manifesto in the region.

This is the fourth year in arrow for the SPLM tournament in the county. The games would run for two weeks.

SPLM Party endorses President Kiir as its flag bearer in the 2024 general elections.

JUBA (6 December 2022)... The leadership of SPLM have unanimously nominated President Salva Kiir as candidate in the upcoming 3rd National Convention, and by extension the Presidential flag bearer in the 2024 general election.

Top SPLM brass made the pronouncement at the National Liberation Council meeting in Juba on Tuesday.

In August this year, parties to the peace agreement announced the extension of the transitional government for another two years, with elections slated for December 2024.

"The SPLM Political Bureau decided to nominate comrade Salva Kiir Mayardit as the Presidential flag bearer in the national elections at the end of the transitional period," Paul Akol Kordit, SPLM's 1st deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs and Organization. told a party meeting in Juba.

Akol said "this is a collective decision of the SPLM Political Bureau. That tells you we have no candidate other than our chairman in the political bureau."

In response to the party's decision, President Kiir said " I accept the nomination to become the flag bearer for the SPLM party in the general elections and I promise you that never again will this country go back to war".

Louis Lobong Lojore spoke on behalf of SPLM Caucuses in Equatoria, while Rin Tueny Manor spoke on behalf of the Caucuses in Bahr El Ghazal and Dr. Joseph Monytuil represented Upper during the endorsement of the motion, that fronted Kiir for the top job.

They expressed readiness to rally the masses in the three regions of the country behind the President, come the election.
